Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expressing confidence in new Acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker. Rosenstein commented in Alexandria, Virginia, yesterday that he has known Whitaker for years.

Whitaker was put in the position this week after the resignation of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Protests have taken place in New York and other places over Whitaker’s appointment. Some fear Whitaker will interfere with Special Counsel Bob Mueller’s probe into alleged collusion between Russia and President Trump’s 2016 political campaign.
