Holiday Travel Rush Underway
(Undated) — Get ready to sit in traffic if you’re traveling for Thanksgiving. Triple-A estimates at least 54-million Americans are traveling at least 50 miles from home for the holiday — the highest in 13 years. A traffic analytics company says drivers in big cities should be ready for a gridlock nightmare, especially between 6:00 and 8:00 tonight and holiday DUI checkpoints will add to the slowdown. But gas prices are one thing to be thankful for this year with the national average dropping to two-62 a gallon. At airports across the U.S., a record 30-point-six million passengers will travel by air during the Thanksgiving holiday, up from 29-million last year. So far no major delays are being reported.
