Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker is issuing a grant to bolster safety and support services for law enforcement officials. Whitaker announced a 56-million-dollar grant which will come through the DOJ’s Office of Justice Programs. The funds will go to departments on the state, local and tribal levels. About 29-million-dollars of the grant is intended to reimburse departments for purchases of bulletproof vests, 12-million-dollars for body cameras and two-million-dollars for health and safety research.
