AREAS OF DENSE FOG EARLY THIS MORNING for Cumberland, Clark, Effingham, Jasper, Crawford, Clay, Richland, and Lawrence counties.
Much of southeast Illinois south of I-70 has seen visibility lowered to a mile or two because of fog. Thicker fog has occurred at times, especially along highway 50 and also near Effingham, with visibility at times as low as a quarter mile. The fog is expected to persist through around 6 am before diminishing. If you have to travel across this area overnight, be alert to rapid changes in visibility. Slow down and drive with low beam headlights.
