A 46-year-old Indian guy opened a restaurant in southwest England about two years ago that served take-out curry. But he recently had to shut down . . . for one of the grossest reasons EVER.
His name is Mahbub Chowdhury, and he failed a bunch of health inspections last year, because his kitchen was filthy. Then last May, a health official found a jug of water under the kitchen sink with brown fingerprints all over it.
So Mahbub explained that he’d been filling the jug with water, and using it to clean himself up after going to the BATHROOM.
And instead of toilet paper, he’d been using his HAND to wipe. So that’s where the brown fingerprints came from.
Apparently the water jug thing is actually common in India, and a lot of people don’t use toilet paper there. So he didn’t see what the problem was. But he recently pleaded guilty to ten counts of breaching food and hygiene regulations.
It’s not clear if he’s facing jail time or just a fine, but he’ll be sentenced later this year.
