Even the highbrow world of philosophy sometimes just devolves into a POOP FIGHT.
Over the summer, four philosophy professors at MIT, NYU, the University of California at Merced, and the University of British Columbia got boxes of feces in the mail. And now, they think they know who did it.
They believe it was ANOTHER philosophy professor, a guy named Brian Leiter at the University of Chicago.
He publishes rankings for philosophy programs called the “Philosophical Gourmet Report”, and they’d criticized him back in 2014 for being combative and disrespectful. He wound up having to step down from being the editor of the “Report.”
Brian has strongly denied sending the poop, but one of the packages had tracking info that traced back to Chicago and a return address that was one digit off from his office.
The story just came out now, but according to the professors, the cops don’t seem particularly interested in investigating.
