There’s a veteran named Chris Williams who lives in Hope Mills, North Carolina . . . that’s about 90 miles inland from the coast. But the whole town got flooded by Hurricane Matthew.
He has a brother in Texas named Craig, who was obviously pretty worried about him. So Craig texted him a photo from Twitter that showed a house completely underwater. And he joked that at least he wasn’t dealing with THAT much flooding.
But it turned out the house WAS Chris’s house. And he was still trapped inside with his dog. Luckily he still had cell service, so he was able to text back.
Then Craig got in touch with the guy who posted the photo on Twitter. It turns out he’d taken the photo with his DRONE. So he went back to the neighborhood . . . flagged down some rescuers who had a boat . . . and had the drone lead them to Chris’s house.
They got him out, but unfortunately the house is a total loss. If you want to help out, there’s a fundraising page for him on GoFundMe.com called “Leave No Dog Behind”. (WFMY / CBS News)
