Justin Timberlake is finalizing a deal to be a halftime performer
at Super Bowl LII, according to multiple reports.
The 10-time Grammy winner would be making a return appearance at
the Super Bowl, which will be held Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in
Minneapolis.
Timberlake’s previous appearance in that role is best remembered
for the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” involving Janet Jackson.
The 36-year-old Timberlake was performing “Rock Your Body” with
Jackson at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 when he pulled part of her
costume off, revealing one of her breasts for approximately half a
second.
The display resulted in the Federal Communications Commission
requiring that halftime shows air on a five-second broadcast delay.
The NFL told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that a decision has not
been made in regard to the performer of the halftime show.
“We know that we will put on a spectacular show,” spokesman Brian
McCarthy told the newspaper. “When it is time to announce her name,
we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”
Recent stars to perform the halftime show include Beyonce, Lady
Gaga and Katy Perry.
