(Chicago, IL) — Several people in the University of Illinois Chicago community are seeking to have the upcoming R. Kelly concert canceled. The group accuses the Grammy Award winning singer of harming African American women and girls and is asking the UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis to call off the concert. A petition has close to 13 hundred signatures and about half are UIC students, faculty and staff. The list is expected to handed over to the chancellor sometime today. Kelly is scheduled to perform at the UIC Pavilion on May 5th in the 2018 Love Jam.
