UPDATED: Prosecutors Speak Following R. Kelly Verdict
(New York, NY) — Prosecutors are speaking following guilty verdicts returned against R. Kelly. The R-and-B singer was found guilty in New York of all the charges against him including racketeering. Acting U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn Kasulis said the verdict now means the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer is forever labeled as a predator. She said the voices of victims were heard. Kasulis added the jury’s verdict brings some closure for them. The singer was accused of recruiting women and underage girls for sex.
Special agent in charge Peter Fitzhugh said Kelly was a serial predator. He said he hopes the verdict begins the process of healing for those who were impacted.

R. Kelly Convicted Of Racketeering
(New York, NY) — A New York jury is convicting R. Kelly of racketeering. The panel began deliberating on Friday following a six-week trial. The R-and-B singer was indicted in 2019 on racketeering charges accusing him of recruiting women and underage girls for sex. The trial featured dozens of witnesses, including the testimony of a number of alleged victims who claimed Kelly manipulated, controlled them and forced them to have sex with him and others.
